Abu Al-Fadl’s Story: The quiet dignity of receiving help through illness, loss, and poverty

Within the walls of a modest home, where hardship has long been a constant presence, lives the family of Abu Al-Fadl.

His father works tirelessly at a local restaurant, while his mother devotes herself fully to caring for their three children with unwavering love and strength.

At Al-Rahim Primary School, Abu Al-Fadl sits attentively at his desk, his eyes reflecting quiet determination despite the challenges he faces.

Living with muscular dystrophy has made movement increasingly difficult, yet he continues to pursue his education with remarkable perseverance.

Alongside his physical struggles, Abu Al-Fadl carries the painful memory of his brother, Abdullah, who passed away last year from kidney failure at the same age.

The two brothers once studied side by side at the same school, sharing hopes for the future until Abdullah’s untimely passing.

In the midst of these challenges, support arrived through The Zahra Trust, offering the family a renewed sense of hope.

The charity has helped cover the educational costs for Abu Al-Fadl and his siblings, while also providing food parcels, clothing at the beginning of the academic year, essential medicines, and medical care through the Islamic clinic.

With emotion in her voice, Abu Al-Fadl’s mother shares her gratitude:

“We thank everyone who has supported us through these difficult times. The donors who reached out to us were like angels during our darkest moments.”

While this support has made a meaningful difference, the family continues to hope for further assistance to help meet the costs of Abu Al-Fadl’s treatment, with the hope that his health may improve and that he may continue pursuing his dreams.

This is a story of patience, faith and resilience, a reminder of how compassion can bring light to families facing extraordinary hardship.
