The Zahra Trust is a registered charity in the UK (charity number 1129501) registered office at 45 Barnfield Road, Edgware, HA8 0AY. We are a charity committed to advancing the Islamic faith and providing humanitarian relief to those in need. Any reference to ‘we’ or ‘us’ in this Policy means The Zahra Trust.


What data we hold about you

The Zahra Trust normally require your details including full name, address and contact information and will therefore hold data in respect of the following:

  • When you make a donation to us

  • When you sign up to a campaign with us

  • When you register for, or attend one of our events, or enter one of our prize draws

  • When you contact us by email, telephone, letter or through our website

  • When you visit and use our website (See ‘Use of cookies’ section)

Additional data collected via our mobile application

When using our mobile application, we may also collect:

  • Name, email address and contact details provided during a donation

  • Donation amount and transaction reference

  • Limited technical information related to app performance and stability


Data security and your rights

The Zahra Trust will hold your data securely. We will also ensure that your personal information is only accessible by staff and volunteers who are appropriately trained and authorised to access such information.

All personal data transmitted through our website or mobile application is encrypted in transit using industry-standard security measures.

We will only send you marketing materials by email, phone or SMS text if you have provided your consent. We will not send you marketing materials post if you have asked us to stop.

Collection and use of your personal data

In order to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, The Zahra Trust need to collect and use your personal data as follows:

  • To process your donations and gift aid declarations

  • To keep you informed about our activities, campaigns and ways to support us

  • To deal with your queries, requests and responses to our projects and campaigns

  • To send you a confirmation of your donation and event registration

  • To personalise marketing materials that we think might be of most interest to you

  • To improve our services by asking for feedback or your suggestions


Payment processing

When you make a donation via our website or mobile application, payments are processed securely by third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

The Zahra Trust does not store or process your card or bank details. Payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe and handled in accordance with their privacy and security policies. We receive confirmation details necessary for record-keeping and donation management.


Location data

Our mobile application may request approximate or precise location access to enable specific features such as determining prayer direction (Qibla).

  • Location data is used only while the app is in use

  • Location data is not stored on our servers

  • Location data is not shared with third parties

  • Location access is optional and can be disabled via your device settings

We do not use location data for tracking, advertising, or marketing purposes.


Device and app information

We may collect limited technical information such as:

  • Device or app identifiers

  • Crash logs

  • App performance and diagnostic data

This information is used solely for app functionality, security, fraud prevention, and performance improvement.


Collecting personal data from other sources

When you agree to support us through a third-party fundraising site such as JustGiving or Facebook Giving.

In the event that we are permitted to send you marketing materials, we may use sources in the public domain to check that your marketing preferences and contact details are accurate.

We may carry out background checks in accordance with our due diligence policies and procedures in order to protect our charitable interests such as the risk of fraud, corruption, bribery, terrorism and money laundering in compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations.


Sharing data with other organisations

  • HMRC for Gift Aid claims

  • Law enforcement authorities when legally required

  • Event organisers for health and safety purposes

  • Payment processing partners such as Stripe

  • Marketing service providers acting on our behalf
