Samarra, Iraq is home to the holy 10th and 11th Imams of the school of the Ahlulbayt (as), Imam Ali ibn Mohammad al Hadi (as) and Imam Hassan ibn Ali al Askari (as). Furthermore, it is the birth place of the 12th awaited Imam, Imam al Mahdi (ajfs).

Historically, centres have been built to house and accommodate pilgrims to this holy city, however they no longer exist today after decades of turmoil in Iraq.

Today, a new centre is being built in the same land to serve as a modern hub for pilgrims of the holy shrine. The Boroujerdi Centre will serve as a mosque, visitor centre, restaurant and medical centre.

The Askariyain Holy Shrine is one the holiest sites in Shi’a Islam and is visited annually by millions from around the globe. Previously, a building was constructed near the holy shrine to serve pilgrims under the name of the late Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Tabatabai Boroujerdi. Unfortunately, this building was attacked and destroyed during the conflict in Iraq.

The Boroujerdi Centre, of 7,500 meters squared, will serve as a mosque, visitor centre, restaurant and medical centre to serve the needs of the pilgrims of the Askariyain Holy Shrine. The centre will have capacity to host and serve hundreds of pilgrims, addressing a great gap which currently exists in the region.

Contribute towards the Sayed Boroujerdi Centre today and help serve the visitors of our beloved 10th and 11th Imams.
