The Battle of Uhud: The day a lesson changed history

The early success of the Muslims 

The Battle of Uhud took place shortly after the Muslims’ victory at the Battle of Badr. The Quraysh of Makkah sought revenge and marched towards Madinah with a large army.

Under the leadership of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww), the Muslim community prepared to defend the city near Mount Uhud.

At the beginning of the battle, the Muslims gained the upper hand. Their courage and determination forced the opposing army to retreat, and it appeared that victory was within reach.

A moment that changed the course of the battle 

Before the battle began, the Prophet (saww) placed a group of archers on a strategic hill and instructed them not to leave their position under any circumstances. 
 
However, when the Quraysh forces began retreating, some of the archers believed the battle had ended and left their posts to collect the spoils of war. 
 
This decision created a vulnerability. Enemy forces quickly seized the opportunity and launched a surprise attack from behind. 
 
The sudden change in the battlefield caused confusion and heavy losses for the Muslim army.
